We are the champions my friend...

Truly, I'm humbled...

When I first began blogging in October of this year I had no idea of what awaited me. As I began meeting the good people who participate each day in the marvelous world of the blogosphere I knew that I’d become a part of something important. Actually, it was more than important, it was something good.

It quickly became apparent to me that someone needed to draw attention to the many wonderful people sharing their hopes, dreams and daily lives on the great tapestry of personal blogs. I took on that task and began sharing with the world the many amazing stories I encountered in my travels along the Internet Highway.

Before Time Magazine found the goodness of what so many of us already knew was happening here, I was already naming many of you “Individual of the Year.” You deserved it! Each and every one of you...

Of all the awards I’ve received this year this one came as the biggest surprise. Hell, I didn’t even know I’d been nominated. But, in all humility I can not accept this award as an individual. This has been a team effort. I couldn’t have been named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year without the help of those in the trenches.

It was you who made me the Dirk_Star I am today.

As this year comes to an end and we stand together upon the precipice of new one, I promise to continue performing at the top of my game in the coming days and make you proud. I will not consider Time Magazine's award a burden, rather; I will consider it an inspiration to do my very best in each and every word that I post.

Again, I would like to thank all of the small bloggers who helped me get to where I am today. On behalf of you all, I accept this award.

Thank you, Time Magazine; you couldn't have picked a better person.

Um excuse me... I think you are mistaken. That award is mine.

Uh, whim, whose picture is on the award?

Upon which blog is the award posted?

Yup! That makes it mine...

Ok, here is the deal. I believe Time was referring to all bloggers (as well as other internet users) when they named the person of the year, or in this case I guess people.

Red wine gives me a headache but I love a nice dry white wine.

whim, you see it your way and I'll see it my way...

I am honored and therefore accept the award in the generous spirit in which it was awarded to "Me".

I believe I am clearly within my rights here.

I looked at the cover and clearly saw my picture on it!

Need I say more?

I imagine TIME would've given me the award, but they have a bias against people who are nameless.

My heartiest congrats to this year's winner(s)!

I've never gotten a award before, why should it be different now?
I'm honoured to see somebody worthwhile has gotten the most precious award ;)

Okay, Dirkster, I think it's time to give back the rest of the stash to Sigmund... We don't want a monster created here, and anyway, I think somebody worth listening to once said, "I'm not sure if I'd want to become a member of a club that would have me as a member."

You have spread joy and occasionally rational thought to the masses of Bloggerville. Is it not enough? Now we have you and Whim bickering over fame and glory. This (as Martha would say) is not a good thing.

Everyone go back to your corners, forget fame and glory, and return peace to the community. Remember: Donald Rumsfeld also has had his picture on the cover of TIME...

Uh... Dirk... It seems that there is more than one winner... Honestly, I had no idea. It was a complete shock! The gnomes are ecstatic and the faeries are all a-twitter! I certainly wouldn't have worn ORANGE if I'd known what the picture was for!

Well, contrats Dirk. While it's possible that Time intended for this award to be shared by everyone, somebody has be the spokesperson for the group. It might as well be you. Especially considering your modesty and humility. ;-)

Who woulda THUNK it?

I mean, I would have believed Mad Magazine "Man of the Year," and that's a Time-Warner subsidiary. I would have even believed Backyard Poultry Magazine.

But THIS....this is something else!

Just think--people across the country will be thinking of you every time they try to squeeze out a really reluctant prairie dog turd.....you know, the kind that keep peeking their head out of the hole, and then go back inside...ALL MONTH!

Man, I am just kvelling with pride over here. Good show!!

I am so honored to have been given the opportunity to met you. I bow to your greatness, humbled by your intelligence, and stand in awe of of your humor. Even though this award will mean more readers, more fans, and maybe some room keys.... I know you won't forget the little bloggers (aka peons) that helped you achieve this honor. (Applause fading.)

Whew! I'm sure glad the Person of the Year can take a day off from blogging! You just lessened the pressure on the rest of us...

Our office party last night was at a bowling alley. This wizard posted a score about equal to my bust size, then caught fire in the second game and bowled numbers about equal to half my weight. The Big Lebowski boys (Donny, Walter and The Dude) would have a good laugh at my rollin'.

Hope your day was a good one. I'll stop by again tomorrow.
