Try to understand; he's a Magic man...

Tinker's Toy!

Among my favorite pastimes is a card game called, Magic the Gathering. I’ve been playing for a number of years now and have managed to assemble a rather fine collection of individual cards and an almost equally impressive collection of play decks.

To me, one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game is sorting though the numerous individual cards, selecting those which focus upon a particular mechanic and then building a deck around a particular theme.

Although there is no maximum limit on the number of cards you can have in a deck there is a minimum limit of sixty cards. I have never built a deck containing more than sixty cards. I prefer speed as my primary weapon of choice and I like to increase the chances of drawing a critical card at the critical moment by keeping my deck small.

Now, I am not sure how many of my readers play the game, Magic the Gathering or have even heard of it. I have a group of individuals who visit my home once a week to play group games and it is always a rousing evening of entertainment. This past Wednesday night I played a new deck I call, Tinker’s Toy.

Those of you familiar with the game will recognize this as an, Artifact Deck. Every card in the deck is an artifact with the exception of the basic swamps and the three paralyze spells. The deck proved to be lightening quick and defeated four other opponents in under ten turns. In subsequent duels it proved to be even more formidable.

If you are a reader of this blog, and play Magic the Gathering, I would enjoy hearing your comments about the deck or any suggestions you might have.
